We had a great time visiting Oak Mountain State Park with our homeschool group, including our friends the Days who kindly drove us for the trip.
The trip started with a tour of the Treetop Nature Trail and birds of Alabama.
Then the naturalist went over outdoor safety tips and native plants. Caitlyn took these:
We finished the scheduled field trip with a section on art in nature and the kids did tree and leaf rubbings.
After thanking the naturalist and saying goodbye to everyone else we had a picnic with the Days. Then we headed to the petting zoo.
Then we actually checked out the animals at the petting zoo. Diane thought it was hilarious when I tried to correct their poor manners.
